Student selection processes developed in the UAS
The student selection processes of universities of applied sciences will be reformed by the year 2020. The aim is to enhance applicant-friendliness, cost efficiency, and the use of digital solutions in student selections. The reform is designed in wide-ranging cooperation with universities of applied sciences and the key interest groups.
The goal of the project is to develop certificate-based selections, entrance examinations, and other new competence-based selection methods. The aim is also to promote and enhance selection related guidance and communications.
The Development Project for Student Selection in the Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences 2017-2019 follows the current Government Programme’s goal of streamlining student selections and on the measures of the Ministry of Education and Culture for the development of higher education admissions in 2017. Metropolia University of Applied Sciences is responsible for coordinating the project and has been granted a discretionary government transfer of two million euros by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
